About GameQuality.org

GameQuality.org is the professional body representing both the craft and the practitioners of game quality. We exist to advocate for quality as the vital ingredient that drives better games, stronger teams and lasting success.

Our vision is simple: quality embedded in the culture of every studio. A respected mindset and a sought-after skillset, valued for boosting both the critical and commercial success of games.

Everything we do serves four commitments:

  • Advancing the craft through professional development
  • Giving greater voice to the community
  • Providing visibility of career paths
  • Advocating for game quality’s influence across the wider games industry

We work in partnership with studios to solve problems, innovate, and make decisions – for the benefit of games, their studios, and their players.

Our ecosystem is built around connected programs, each designed to serve game quality professionals at every career stage and to give studios the tools they need to invest in their quality teams with confidence.

Our Origin Story

GameQuality.org was founded by Anthony McGaw, Alex Deane, Ben Wibberley and Devin Seto in response to a gap they felt deserved filling: there was no conference, and no professional home, dedicated to the craft and discipline of game quality. In 2021, we launched Qualicon – backed by our studio partners EA, Epic, PlayStation Studios, Riot, Ubisoft, and Xbox – to give the profession a stage of its own. From this first online conference for over 900 people, we’ve grown year-on-year to provide support to Quality professionals at every career stage.

Our Team

Alongside our founders, our talented team make our initiatives, events and training programs run like clockwork:

  • Chelsea – Subject Matter Expert & Lead Educator
  • Laura – Facilitation & Training
  • Hannah – Events
  • Kelly, Lisa & Emma – Marketing
  • Giles – Membership
We all advocate for quality as a core craft in the games industry.

Qualicon

Qualicon is the annual conference for professionals working in the quality discipline across the global games industry. Hosted online over two days, it’s designed to be truly accessible to an international audience, bringing together game quality professionals from every background and career stage for a rich program of collaboration, knowledge-sharing and celebration of the craft.

Every year our content is designed, curated and delivered for game quality professionals, by game quality professionals. The program is shaped by our Content Committee, drawn from across the industry and built around five founding principles:

This must-attend conference is the place where challenges are identified, ideas collide, successes are celebrated and together we plot a path for the future of game quality. Come prepared for a whole host of actionable take-aways.

Qualicon returns for its 7th year on May 19–20, 2027.

Where teams connect with the wider profession and come back energized, informed and inspired.

Game Quality Academy

Game Quality Academy is our home for professional skills development. It provides gold-standard qualifications, recognized and endorsed by industry.

The flagship credential is the Foundation Certificate in Game Quality (FCGQ). It was created in collaboration with Epic Games, PlayStation Studios, Ubisoft and Xbox Game Studios, who provided an understanding of what their quality teams need.

Learners get access to more than 60 video and interactive media lessons via our online, self-paced platform. That includes:

The curriculum covers the fundamentals of game QA comprehensively: from the structure of a typical game development studio and common QA team roles, through testing approaches, test levels, and test types, to shift-left methodology, platform certification, and game launch processes.

The FCGQ provides a clear, consistent baseline of knowledge for your quality hires. It means new team members arrive with a shared language and a grounding in the techniques that matter, making onboarding faster and cross-studio mobility more seamless.

Corporate and team purchases are available by contacting us directly.

It’s the best first step anyone can take to start or strengthen their game quality career.

Leadership Development Training Program

Strong leadership shapes successful teams and exceptional player experiences. Our is a bespoke, live-online training designed exclusively for the games industry, built to enhance the credibility, commercial acumen and confidence of current and emerging quality leaders.

The program comprises six interactive modules, each three hours long, delivered live via Zoom. Every module weaves together the fundamentals of emotional intelligence, personal resilience, strategic thinking and wellness as the enabler of sustainable high performance.

This isn’t theory at a distance. Each session is framed by a current senior industry leader who shares lessons learned, offers unique perspectives and answers participants’ questions directly. Past guest leaders have included representatives from Xbox Studios, Epic Games, 2K and Riot Games.

The program is deliberately intimate: each cohort is limited to 16 participants to ensure depth, meaningful collaboration, and personalized feedback. Unlike internal training, this is a cross-studio program, which means participants build a network of quality leaders from across the profession. Graduates leave with an alumni community and ongoing peer support.

For studios, this is a direct investment in your leadership pipeline and a way to develop managers who can communicate the value of quality from the driving seat.

Game Quality Leaders Summit

The is where the craft’s most experienced voices come together to shape its future. This is our annual, in-person gathering for senior quality leadership professionals, focused entirely on growth, connection, and influence.

This is more than a conference. It’s a workshop, think tank, and incubator in one. Attendees engage in deep discussions on the craft, its challenges and where it’s heading; leadership-focused education, panel sessions and case studies; targeted networking and mentorship; and collective ideation to define a path forward for game quality across the industry.

After two years in New Orleans, our third Summit took place at the William Gray Hotel in Montreal in April 2026, with over 1,000 years of experience represented in the room. Attendee studios have included Xbox Game Studios, PlayStation Studios, Ubisoft, Epic Games, Electronic Arts, Riot Games, 2K, Netflix, NetEase, Jagex, Pipeworks, Niantic, Supercell, Turtle Rock, DAQA, EPAM, Keywords, Testronic and Huwiz.

The audience is carefully curated: senior leaders and directors from large studios, senior QA managers in major organizations, QA directors in small and mid-size studios and senior leaders at outsource partners, with sales participants explicitly excluded to protect the integrity of the space.

Attendees receive:

2027 Summit details will be announced soon.

For studios considering membership, the Leaders Summit represents the highest-level expression of what GameQuality.org stands for: a profession that takes itself seriously, invests in its people and collaborates openly to raise the bar for everyone.

Game Quality Awards

The Game Quality Awards are our annual celebration of the incredible talent working across the profession. They shine a light on the people and teams making a real difference and they tell the stories that make you proud and excited about the future of your craft.

The awards recognize excellence across six categories:

Our winners are announced live at Qualicon, with their stories shared across the community. Judging is carried out by senior practitioners from studios including Epic Games, Riot Games, Ubisoft, Funcom and Behaviour Interactive.

For studios, nominating your people is one of the most powerful ways to recognize their contribution and to demonstrate your commitment to quality as a professional discipline.
